When we rang our IP to go through income and expenditure we were still in our 'own' home - just prior to being repossessed. We are now in a bigger rented home and today got the form through for the Council tax and it is a LOT more (about £80)than is showing on our budget form. Also, I also just received my tax credit renewal and as my youngest turns one in November, from the end of October the payments for this nearly halve.

Our meeting is on the 26th August and I am worried that we will have to postpone while the figures are changed around as we can't afford what is showing on the proposal given these changes we only just found out about (although they were correct at the time we signed the proposal).

My IP aren't in weekends and I would love it if a forum expert or someone can perhaps put my mind at ease on this. [:(]

You most certainly should have those figures changed before the creditors meeting, and I am a little suprised that this was not picked up by your IP prior to finalising the proposal - they must have known that your tax credit was likely to change, and at the time the proposals were signed you must have been in the new property. A quick call to the local council could have confirmed your new Council tax rate.

This will need some careful explaining to your creditors by your IP, but this is better than entering into an IVA which you cannot afford from day 1.

You're right, I only have myself to blame about the Council Tax. In my defence I can only say that being repossessed and having to find somewhere to move to in under 2 weeks has really been hard on me and I have not been coping well, emotionally. Stress and depression don't exactly focus the mind and I am kicking myself now for this stupid oversight.

Will ring IP Monday and see what can be done, if anything.

Hi angelrainbow,

Don't be too hard on yourself, these things happen. Sounds like you've had a lot to cope with over past few weeks.

Good Luck on monday, let us all know how you get on[:)]

Hi Angelrainbow,
Be easy on yourself - with what you're been through you've coped brilliantly. Best wishes for Monday - I'll keep everything crossed that you can get the figures changed without any hassle.
Thinking of you,
Hugs,
