My council tax has been reviewed recently and has told me i am in over £1200 in arreas , I have told dthem I am on a iva since aug 08 , but they said the arreas is for this year ? so although im paying a little over the top each month they seem to be ignoring the fact i on an iva , can they tak eme to court , I have told them about my situation before .And have also told them I will pay it off in time .thanks for any info

Hi
If you have any arrears from before Aug 08 then this can be added to your IVA, speak with your IP. Any arrears since that date will have to be paid by you and it may mean that you need a payment break from your IVA in order to bring these upto date.
Make sure that your expenditure allowance in your IVA is realistic as you should have enough money each month to keep your Council tax upto date

Its best to speak to your supervisor immediately regarding this. Council tax / mortgage / rent etc are considered priority debts and as such there are provisions in your expenditure to cover these. If you are in arrears, your supervisor may propose a variation / payment plan to allow you to pay off the arrears.
