I've found something else to worry about! I recently noticed on my Nationwide online banking that there is a Nationwide credit card listed with a balance of 53p owing. I hadn't used the credit card for years before my IVA, and I completely forgot to declare it in my BR.

Now I'm not worrying about owing them 53p, but I am worried that it wasn't declared. Do I need to do anything about this? I'm so near the end of my BR now that I'm worried that something will go wrong! I also don't want to draw any attention to myself with Nationwide as I don't want them closing my account as I know they no longer offer accounts to bankrupts!

There is also my very old Flexaccount listed with £1.23 credit! I did declare this in my BR forms, but what will happen to this - can I close the account or do I need to get permission from the OR?

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

For peace of mind call the OR about this in the New Year, but you are unlikely to get told off about such an immaterial omission.

I decided to give the OR's office a call this morning and I gave the details to a very nice lady who told me not to worry about it, this sort of thing happens all the time. She has updated the system in case there is any pay out to my creditors, which I know there won't be unless I win the lottery on Saturday!

One last question - is this likely to cause a problem with Nationwide? I am presuming the OR will contact them, and I'm now worried that they will close my account. I think it would be petty if they did that over 53p, but who knows with banks! It would be a pain in the bum if they did as there are lots of branches of Nationwide round here, unlike the Co-op!

Hi Skippy

What a pair we are having things to worry about over the Christmas holidays, cant answer your question but hope it will be ok. Can only suggest you speak with the OR dealing with your case after the holidays.
I too spoke with the OR office about the letter I received, the person I spoke with told me its been passed to a trustee due to the size of the equity and not to worry that it is after 4 months as they can do this at any time. He advised me to call back when the OR assistant dealing with my case is back to work for clarification.

Lets hope that 2008 is the year thats gives us peace of mind

Pippa

I don't know about you Pippa but I'm finding that the nearer I'm getting to the end of my BR (3 months tomorrow!) the more I'm finding to worry about!

I feel better now I've spoken to the OR's office about the credit card (I did feel a bit silly when she asked how much was owed and I said 53p!) and I'm just going to keep quiet about the Nationwide account. Surely they must have known I had a credit card with them when they opened the Flexaccount? I've got my Co-op account if they do close it, so I'm not going to worry about that!

I'm glad you managed to speak to someone Pippa - there's nothing worse than sitting worrying and not being able to do anything about it. I hope you have a better 2008 x

I would pay off the 53p just to be on the safe side. Can you get Dave to write a cheque?

I didn't think I was allowed to do that? I thought I wasn't allowed to make a payment to any creditor once I was bankrupt. The person I spoke to this morning has added the card to my list of creditors...

For the sake of 53p which would be paid by someone else and not you, this is not a problem - merely a commercially sensible thing to do, if it keeps your current account open.

This is immaterial, but to keep yourself straight make sure that your IP is made aware of what you have done.

Sorry to worry you Cat! I've found that I worry about things more now than I did when I was up to my eyes in debt - I can't believe I was worrying over a 53p debt!
