Hi
Storm, when we search our own credit files the full balance of debts owing is disclosed.Surely creditors have the same info when searching ? If not, then surely this is the root cause of all the over committed people out there and something that needs changing.
Don,t say that it,s all to do with the privacy laws !!!

Surely it can't be anything to do with the privacy laws when all and sundry can get access to our phone records as of tomorrow!

for my own circumstances it would have helpped us if credit card companies paid attention to the amount being paid back each month...we only ever managed the minimum payment required...never a penny more. It would be cool if the credit card companies saw this as a possible problem and so stopped further credit increases untill at least half of the outstanding debt was paid back. Its easy to say this now i know...cos at the time of being dependant on them i would have been mortified had they stopped the spending power. But i do think that the signs are there...there are signs in the way we pay back debt that show there could be a problem and it would be cool if they could pick up on those signs.

Hope that made sense..xx

I had 93K of credit with 14 credit cards and two loans....with NO ASSETS!!

If that is responsible lending then some need to explain what irresponsible lending is????

IMO..i guess i thought the same thing at first...why did you allow me to do this...they didnt help but i allowed me to do this. It is irresponcible lending but i learned that while you kept paying that minimum payment each month (and we killed ourselves to do this cos we were so scared of the outcome if we didnt) they are happy to keep lending to you. They are after all a money making organisastion...they are not there to do you any favours, they are there to make money and while you keep paying them they will be more than happy to keep lending.

I actually respected my bank a lot more when they did close our overdraft...they could see that all monies being paid in where taken right back out again and so the overdraft never going down....they saw the signs...bit late after 11k but they did see there was a problem.

As I paid for the clothes (worth 14.99) that I bought my daughter yesterday I was asked if I wanted to save 20 percent on the purchase, I said no thanks. Dont you want to save money ?? she said, I dont want a storecard. Oh, well thats 14.99 then, with an emphasis on 14, which I didnt much like. Do assistants get a commission or something for pushing these things on people?? I know they do a credit check and I would have failed anyway but, its almost a constant thing now and it really cheeses me off.

i get that too lily...and i do think that these days the poor till staff are told to try and sell..i know a lady who left Alliance and Leicester as a cash girl cos she was told to ask everyone who came in if they had a mortgage and if they could arrange a mortgage advisor to call...she hated it as she couldnt remember who she had asked and who she hadnt, and some customers where being asked everytime they went in and getting annoyed.

Its not fair as i am sure this wasnt listed in there job description when they applied for there position in the first place.

I dont mind too much as long as they take my first answer..(no thank you) its when they question my answer that i get annoyed.
