I obtained a copy of my credit report from Experian.
It has various defaults dated after my bankruptcy date, so I will be writing to them to have it corrected.
All of the creditors are yet to mark the accounts 'Satisfied or Partially Satisfied'. As I am not discharged for another 3 months, can I do this now, or do I have to wait to be discharged before I request the status to be updated?
Assuming you get automatic discharge from your bankruptcy, I don't think there is really anything that can be achieved until you have confirmation of that discharge which you can then forward to Experian.
Your bankruptcy will remain on your credit record for a period of six years from the date of the bankruptcy order in any event.
I waited until after I was discharged. You will also need to get copies of your credit report from Equifax and Callcredit as well as some creditors don't report to all 3 agencies which is a pain!
My creditors only marked the accounts as satisfied or partially satisfied after I wrote to them.
It was interesting that the report had the bakruptcy order date and then followed by the discharge date (exactly 1 year after). I didn't think it would have a discharge date on it yet (especially as it's in the future.)
Skippy, it would seem that all my creditors report to Experian, but I will be getting the other 2 just to check!
