The scores you get on websites such as credit expert are indicative only. Each lender develops its own credit scores based on its own experiences of bad debt and other key factors.

Major influencing factors - age / votors / living status + time / employment + time / payment profiles on account conduct and finally indebtness (how much of the credit facility is regularly used)

Major negs - CCJ / Defaults / Insolvency / no trace

There are a number considerations in developing score cards - typically 70+ attributes are considered using a number of stastical techniques to identify which characteristic impacts on either the acceptance rate, bad debt or income potential of the product.

The stupid thing is that my daughter, at the age of 18, with no credit history at all, was allowed to take out finance for a computer with no problems at all!

Presumably the fact that her bank account was in order would have counted in her favour? She doesn't even work full time!

Its a good example of market conditions - the need to move stock to create cash flow with the large PC manufacturers and retailers.

I would have thought a couple of factors - on the votors and the bank showing she operates within the terms of the agreement.

And nothing to show she doesn't pay.

I suppose that's true Storm. She had never had a problem with the bank and had just gone on the voters list and was in receipt of pay, albeit not a brilliant amount, but enough to cover her payment.
