Just a quick question. Trying to clean up my credit report. Will the amount of times i search my file cause my score to drop? I know it shows the searches under other and not credit searches but just wondered if i was causing myself problems?

Hi Adders,

I don't think it matters if you search it as you are not a firm checking for ccedit.

I used to check mine frequently and it made no difference.

Being an ostrich sort of person I have never checked our credit rating and don't intend to until the IVA is over!! I know what it would say!!

You can check your own file as many times without affecting the score.

@kazzafunk - Not checking might be a good idea as mine is shocking.

58 out of 999!!!! [:(]

I always used to keep an eye on mine, especially after I had a couple of cards cloned. I registered with CIFAS and will do so again once the IVA is finished. I'm always wary of things these days and do like to keep a close eye.

I don't bother at the moment as nobody will be able to get credit in my name.

Ha ha, Mine was 4 and then dropped to 0. Beat that low score lol.

Then I found out that I had dropped off the electoral role for some reason so that must be worth 4 points....

Hopefully those precious 4 points will appear back soon!

Mine is 190/999. Makes me 3 times as creditworthy as you Luke!

God only knows how!

checkmyfile.com was quite useful as it gives info for all 3 agencies in one place.

My credit scores were 651 Call Credit, 534 Experian, 222 Equifax. I'm guessing it's prob cos my IVA shows up only on my Equifax record (including the paper versions).

In any case i think i'd still be screwed if i applied for anything lol.

On a positive note, at least my credit score can only go one way now

I'm not really bothered - because me and hubby will he OAP's either during or just after the IVA completion then we're not likely to need any credit.
