I cannot see any Police Force getting one bit interested in taking action against banker's collection methods. This is a matter for the banking industry to sort out internally, and to start treating their customers fairly when things go wrong.

Well I reported someone (an ex brother in law) from harassing me with constant threats and sms messaging and he wa spoken to by the police and it soon stopped! But I agreethis is something that the BBA should look into and I will be pressing them accordingly.

Slightly different circumstances there, and I cannot see a policeman making the same call to Barclaycard to be honest! This issue needs addressing on a much wider scale.

But why not Melanie - if there is evidence (answerphone of the many calls and recording of the threats - then the police are obligated to investigate.

I'm prepared to wager dinner on that David - if you can demonstrate that you have managed to get the police to take something like this seriously!

As much as I sympathise with people on the other end of these calls, in my opinion it is hardly a police matter and I think that their time would be better spent out catching criminals.

Harassment was considered important enough to be included within the Administration of Justice Act.

If any person is receiving more than a reasonable number of calls and can provide the evidence I will be prepared to force the issue with the Authorities.

Put the dinner on hold and see if we have any posters who are able to provide the evidence.

I think we have a good example of this today David - have you read Elv's post about Barclaycard? In my 25 years of practice, I do not think I have come across a more disgraceful comment.

And I am prepared to "eat my words" as at the moment I am really incensed that any human being could speak to another in such a cruel way.

If you got to Saynoto0870 and put in the number, it should tell you whether it was Barclays or Mercers who called.

I'd email the details then to Melanie so she can take this up for you.

J, You and David don't deserve this. I would speak to BT about changing your number immediately. This will end it once and for all.

They're annoyed they can't get any money from you!

Is it possible for you to change your number? It would solve the problem of the constant calls.
