Mine too. Quite nervous, but I am sure we will all be ok.

Only once Michael, the Bradford one. It was great. You'll be fine and won't be nervous at all. Don't forget, you already know everyone. [;)] XXXX

If it's any consolation to you, I'm at exactly the same stage as you.
To begin with I was ignoring all letters and basically doing an ostrich impression. Since I've faced up to the prospect of an IVA, I have got a lot stronger, and use my sense of humour with these idiots.
This morning Mercers debt collection agency called me at work. They collect for Barclays. I told the lady she would get no confirmation as to who I was, and I took her number and called back. After about five minutes of the blood and stone routine, out came the threat of doorstep collectors calling.
Woopee I said, why don't you send 3 since I had accounts with Goldfish,Morgan Stanley & Barclaycard all now owned by barclays. I even offered to have tea and cake ready for them. However, when I offered to visit their offices near Aintree Liverpool, the line went dead.
I guess they don't like the threat of you finding out where they live. Shame.

Good for you Stirling! Mercers are a nightmare, and I lost count of the number of times I was threatened with debt collectors. I also told them to bring it on, I was ready for them.

It's very rare for anyone to call, but it has been known to happen.

At the end of the day these people are just doing their job, trying to extract as much money as they can on the phone with you. I had one say to me, errr its bla from credit bla, do you have your debit card handy, as you need to pay £1300 to put your account in balance? (wow is that all, I dont think so?)

The most important thing to remember is dont be bullied. Tell them that you are aware of seriousness of the situation thats why you are taking out insolvency proceedings. That you are simply trying to communicate this to them in writing, via a professional to the big wigs, not verbally on the phone with them. Better not to waste your time with me and move on, as I cant pay. If you send someone round, I will ask them to leave and will refuse to speak to them. Be polite and professional, keep it short and to the point and hold your head up high.

Mercers were the worst for me, kept phoning 5 or 6 times a day, even though I'd told them I was proposing an IVA. Once the date for the creditors meeting was set I just got a letter from them saying to send them a copy of the final agreement and that was the last I heard of them.

Still having issues with Metropolitan collection services on behalf of HSBC. Told the girl I have had an IVA agreed but she still said I had to pay the full £6k there and then or they world instruct their solicitor to commence legal action. Clearly don't understand IVA's.

The last phone call I had from Mercers was on the day my IVA was approved, and it gave me great pleasure to tell them that. They still tried to get money out of me though!

Never had much of a problem with MCS,and the debt was soon sold on to Robinson Way with whom I had no problems at all.

I guess it depends which person you get on the other end of the line. All of my dealings with HSBC prior to the debt being passed on were good. They'd phone every so often for an update and that was it.

It's nice to have a mobile which doesn't ring all of the time now though.
