Thanks everyone....David I will certainly do things differently next time. My refund is being discussed at present with Bonds and the company who referred me to them.
I just feel so frustrated that I am literally at stand still with it all- I have registered with 30 agencies this week. I have been told I could easily wait 3-6 mths for something in my field. For local work I have been told I am too experienced for general admin. I have enquired in my local paper about a cleaning job for £6 an hour 12 hrs a week.....My previous salary was 10 times that. A definate sign of the times I think.
I actually made a call to Samaritans last night just out of sheer desperation-it did make me feel mildly better and I just have to soldier on with it all.
I was considering BR as I was under the impression it 'wiped the slte clean' I dont know enough about it but I have seen on here people are still making payments for up to 3 years...if this is the case I dont see how it would be any different to moving forward eventualyy with an IVA.
Have you thought about temping as a filler until you can find a permanent job?
Bankruptcy may well be an option for you, if you have no assets which would be affected, and would give you the opportunity of getting a completely fresh start. And keep pestering for a return of that money - you need it more than your IP.
That is for temping work as well Melanie. But the banks are not renewing any temp contracts....
How long does BR last? Are you declared bR and that is it- or are you still reviewed and asked to make payments?
When you are made BR, it usually lasts 12 months until you are discharged, but sometimes you can be discharged earlier.
If you have disposable income of over £100 a month (I think that's right), you are expected to pay a proportion of this across for 3 years.
As with an IVA, BR remains on your credit file for 6 years.

Stressed, I do hope you manage to get another job soon. You have certainly been through the mill just recently, and you deserve a break.

Just an update guys.....Bonds have not come back at all and responded to any correspondance I have sent. The company who referred me said they would be speaking to them as were concerned about the service they gave and I should be entitled to a form of refund.etc- and what do u know they havent bothered talking to them yet and its been over a week.
I have been advised I can make a complaint through the financial ombudsman-so this could be the next course of action.
The job hunt is a hard slog as well- found a local job I could do well today-money wasnt great but would do so sent off cv and they have already had 75 applicants!!
Fingers crossed that your cv is better than all the others stressed1!
It's a disgraceful way that you have been treated.
I'd keep pestering that firm until they made contact with Bonds.

I have had a response from the head of Bonds- it states that while they advised me to go ahead with the proposal after I had advised them of my redundancy it was ultimately my decision of whether the proposal went ahead or not and I didnt instruct them otherwise.
They also indicate that the total fee for there services is £2875- so in actual fact I owe them an additional £775! But as a sign of goodwill they are prepared to waive the outstanding balance.
I guess if I hadnt lost my employment things may not have been as messy as we could have negotiated with creditors and maybe I would have got the IVA thru as it was only just tipped over the 25% mark.
But the way it is right now is the last 4 months were a complete waste of time and more importantly a waste of £2350. And I am now in a worse position than I ever have been
Send me all of the details and paperwork and I'll take it up with Bonds as I know them. It appears that you have been badly advised and/or treated. Mark everything for my attention. You can get my details by clicking on my Avatar on the left.

That's disgraceful! How can they advise you to go ahead with an IVA when you don't have a job? I agree it was your decision, but it was taken on their advice.
Many Thanks David, I will forward that on to you.
When I advised them I had lost my job,I actually told them that I had very large doubts on continuing the process. And that although I would be looking to find employment asap there was no guarantee what I would be earning or even if I would find wok straight away-especially in current market conditions. And the 'advisor' informed me all they would do is send a revised proposal if my earnings were less.
I had expressed concerns previously as well- my proposal took 16 weeks.I was told 4 times in November it was ready to come out and I got it mid Jan
Put all of this down in a complete letter to me please.
