I have no doubt that Melanie will go into "battle" with these creditors to get a good result for Johndylan.

Spoke to Marc on Friday, he is just waiting for barclaycard to confirm the final outstanding balance of my wifes account to their appointed reprensentative.

I also have a barclaycard debt and received a letter from them yesterday, confirming my final balance and that they would not be contacting me again. My account will now be adminstered by GT who will liaise with my IP.

Throughout the whole process, my creditors have been very good, just some annoying automated calls.

My creditors were fairly good, too, John, and it appears from postings on here that they are getting better. I think they understand the economic situation and accept that, though none of us, debtors and creditors alike, are happy with the situations we find ourselves in, we are all trying to make the best of it.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Hi all,

Finally got the call from Marc today, that both our IVAs had been accepted! There were a few modifications but we are both over the moon! The whole process has been very smooth and I cannot thank Marc, Mel and the rest of her team enough for the work they have done. Had i not found this site, i do not know what we would have done.

When i consulted the CCCS back in Oct, their recommendation was a DMP. They even said that they would not put us forward for an IVA as it was not in the best interests of my creditors ( i wish i had recorded the conversation with the chap on the phone). With around 85k of debt( which we are both highly embarrassed by) we felt a DMP was totally unsuitable. Besides, i knew my wife would not be able to cope the uncertainties of a DMP.

It was then that i found this site, read the reviews and arranged a meeting with Mel, who was Fab!!!
Looking forward to sharing experiences, learning about the ups and downs on this 5/6 year journey.

Great news, John.

Interesting to hear about CCCS advice regarding the best interests of the creditors !! At that stage they were potential Nominees and are supposed to be working for your best interests. It is only when they become Supervisors are they looking out for the creditors !!!

Fab news and thank you for your kind comments JohnDylan. My colleague Marc has worked really hard on your behalf over the last week or so, but hard work generally produces good results in my book.

I cannot understand why you were ever recommended to a DMP - or why you were not allowed the benefit of knowing about all of the options. Thank goodness you found this forum and were at least able to exercise a little choice - and hopefully new posters will gain from your experience. As will all goods and services, it always pays to take your time and shop around.

You have had to make some personal sacrifices in your family lifestyle, but as Lesly can now vouch - the five years does pass relatively quickly. It only seems like yesterday that I was having my first chat with her, and now all in completed. Where would you be at the five year point in a DMP - it is a complete nonsense.
