I always use the maximum allowances, which in my opinion are still very frugal, unless clients tell me they spend anything different and then this is always justified by a disclosure note.

Hi Everyone

Had a bit of a busy day yesterday so was unable to reply to these posts.
Yes the increase is high but as Melanie says she had put everything at the maximum. We do have to make more cut backs but no one said this was meant to be easy!!
We are just so relieved that the creditors voted yes and we can now move on and concentrate on life without having to worry about phone calls and letters.
We had already started working to a budget and we know that what ever we buy we can afford and we do not have to worry about paying it back later.
I am worried about the future and I do feel guilty about what has happened, especially because of our children, I do not want them to miss out on anything because of the mistakes we have made. They are unaware of what has happened and I want it to stay that way, they are having to get used to us saying no when they ask for things (not that they ask for a lot) but hopefully we can teach them the value of money and only having what you can afford.
Thanks to everyone for your support over the past few weeks it is great to know that there are people out there to offer support as we have told no family or friends about this and I don't know if we ever will.
Thanks too to Melanie and her amazing team who have been fantastic all the way through this.
To anyone setting out on this journey it isn't easy but if you have the right people looking out for you it makes it achievable.
I hope this forum carries on all the good work and support, Andy you are an inspiration and you do such a great job helping others.
Even though ours has been accepted I will still read the forum and hopefully be able to offer advice like others have to me and I will still have lots of questions as we go through the next five/six years.
Sorry if I have waffled but I just needed to get all this off my chest and thank everyone who has helped, you are all wonderful [:)]
As soon as we receive our chairmans report I will let you all know how everyone voted.

Well we have finally crossed the finishing line, 6 years after the last post on this thread.
Seems strange to read the threads and look back over the last 6 years and remember the state we were in back then.
Good luck to all of you starting out on this journey.

My own IVA was set at £251 at the begining - which was a stretch to me- and modified to £290 which I was far from happy about at the time..I never thought because of the extra £39 a month that I would make it. But its amazing how the months pass and I have had all sorts of problems along the way but - I made it though and it does pass. Try to keep things simple - keep up the payments and get your IVA done within the 60 months timeframe and you wont look back. From a guy who never did any of them things but wishes very much that he had ha ha (took me 71 months) Debt free future awaits.

So great to see an original post from so long ago, and an update of a completed IVA. Reading my own contributions to the original thread, it is unbelievable how time flies!
