Hi all

I have been reading the forums here for sometime and It has proved to be a great inspiration to sort out our debt issues, I hope that I may be able to contribute at some point to helps others in a similar situation.

We have our creditors meeting on Tuesday which we are looking forward to with some nervous excitement and some anxiety.

We have been battling with over 80K of debt only being able to make minimum payments on cards, 12 months ago we set up DMP with Payplan this will take around 18years to finish if ever! so we decided to go forward with the IVA.

I know the next 60 months or so will be difficult and we will now live within our budget and with the ideas and suggestions I've read here I think it will be easier - hopefully!

I wonder why Payplan did not suggest an IVA to you in the first place?

Hi Mel

Payplan did suggest an IVA at the very start and on two occassions I enquired but didn't feel comfortable to move forward - I backed out due to fear mainly because I didn't want our name to go on the register so I persevered with the DMP. Second time (this time) we spoke to three companies and decided on a company who "ticked all the boxes" for us.

Whoo hoo! we had our IVA approved today!

There was just a short wait while there was a minor alteration we got a call back to say "Approved"!

All thanks to Mel and her team at the IVA Bureau who have all been absolutely fabulous!

And thank you all for your supportive post on here

Well done. I found the first year the hardest, but after that it hasn't been too difficult to adjust to the changes in lifestyle. Keep the faith.
