Hello
Our creditors are all aware that we are pursuing an IVA due to insolvency. We sent letters to them last month which coincided with stopping all payments, and to inform them of our plans, giving them full details of our IP.
An initial understanding call from one creditor has been followed by several letters along the lines of "direct debit has been stopped, please pay up" which we have forwarded to our IP as instructed.
One of our other creditors has started to leave answer phone messages, requesting we call them to discuss our options. Do we ignore these? Or do we call them to reiterate our position. (They are a well known tricky creditor who have a reputation for being aggressive on the telephone) We don't want to make a bad situation worse by appearing to ignore them, nor do we want to have to deal with the potential stress and worry of fielding aggressive phone calls.
Any advice would be much appreciated, as I suspect things may become worse over the coming weeks.

HI there
I was hounded by telephone calls, at work, home and even one creditor actually sent text messages and made telephone calls to my husbands WORK mobile (which is billed and paid for by his company). He has a credit card with them and the only way they would have got his number was to cross reference it with my account.
I called them and reiterated my position loads of times but the phone calls dont stop, they have you on an automated dialing system. I did find however once they had received my proposals the phone calls died down alot.
I actually ignored them in the end i got fed up with it. I had caller display put on the phone and only answered the calls i wanted to
Hope this helps

Thanks Zoe, much appreciated.
It is such a stressful time anyway; the build up to the creditors meeting, and not knowing at this point whether we will have to pursue bankruptcy as you have.
I still can't quite believe we have got to where we are financially, and no matter how many times I read other contributors' congratulating people on being brave and finally addressing their debt, I am very ashamed that things have got so out of hand.

I was chased by creditors,if i remember rightly, legally they have to stop chasing you once you inform them you are entering an IVA and given them details .

Hi Blueshoes, I know that this is hard and I wish you well, it has taken us along time and we eventually got there, it took us 8 months to get our IVA and now we are 18 months into the IVA, we used to get calls from all our creditors offering us solutions that suited them and they are only doing their job, but they only see their own debt, and not anyone else's so hang on in there and it will get easier. When ever anyone calls you say that they need to talk with your ip and what we done was carry a piece of paper of the contact details of our IP in our pocket and just said the same thing over and over again, Good luck and be strong
