Hi has anyone on here ever been contacted at work by a creditor? just that I will be waiting for the phone calls but don't want our bosses to know about our problems? [:(]
A lot of people on here have been contacted at work by creditors. Do they have your works phone number?
If you are answering them at home or on a mobile they probably won't call at work.
Hopefully they won't bother you though.

Both my husband and I have been contacted at work by creditors (hubby by Barclaycard and Capital One and me by Alliance & Leicester).
With the Alliance and Leicester she asked me to confirm security details and I said I couldn't at that time so she asked if I'd ring her back later. She was very nice.
They can't say anything to anyone about your situation and can't alk to you if you don't confirm your details. When they rang before and left a message I just told people it was a sales call and they seemed to accept it.
Keep posting here you'll find a lot of support and good advice
It is naughty to contact people at their workplace, and people should be very careful about disclosing their work number on any application forms for finance.
Creditors know that people will be guarded when they are talking about sensitive issues whilst at work, and they are known to play on this by getting people to agree to make token payments or even the full contractual repayment to sum avoid people being embarrassed in front of their workmates.
Funnily enough the only phone call I've had from a creditor so far was barclaycard and they rang at work and to make it worse they rang at 8.20am when the answer phone was on and the message was then played out loud to around 6 people when the messages were played back, talk about embarassing!
Luckily though they only said who it was and for me to give them a ring urgently, I'm sure some of my work colleagues had their suspicions but I just brazened it out, i kinda blamed myself anyway because I put down my work number on the letter I'd written to them, I probably won't do that again in the future!
Don't give any creditor your work number on correspondence or on applications for credit - that is definitely the motto of these posts.

I was contacted at work also. However, I find that the best way to avoid it is speak to them in the evening. I talked to all my creditors and told them flat that I couldn't take any payments as I was progressing towards and IVA and my IP had told me not to pay anyone. It seemed to do the trick, however NR still did pester every week.
I was constantly harassed by one creditor at work. I told her I could not talk and kept putting the phone down. Every day I would get calls every hour, not good. In the end I put my answer phone on, she kept leaving messages and I just ignored them. It was awful, and she is the one who told me my IVA would fail. What a cow
Some people have found that creditors have found their work number despite them not having put it down on any forms - presumably if they have put down where they work.
Unfortunately, these bullies will try and tell you that your IVA will be refused - they should just be ignored as the call centres have no influence over whether you are accepted or not.

Barclaycard and NatWest both rang me at work. It was cold sweat time - NatWest had the number but Barclaycard must have researched it.
Both were leaving messages with reception, I had a word with the receptionist and said they were both chasing me over a disputed bill - so would she mind telling them that personal calls weren't allowed at work if they rang again.
yes, hubby has had Picture finance ringing him up at work and he did not give them the number, they must have found it themselves, this was AFTER bankruptcy and after we had given the house up, they were asking him for payment [:(!]
