Hiya

its income. We had to pay it all in our iva as income anyway. However I know of someone who gets the ex to buy the child what is needed up to a certain amouint monthly. That way the child gets the benefit as it is for them. Also you can cancel your csa claim and have a priovate agreement. However..be warned it can take 6 months to re_instate the claim if things do not work out. The csa are also stopping back pay claims in some cases or so I was told recently.

My ex and I came to a private arrangement when we split 7 years ago, its far easier that way the CSA are a nightmare to deal with as my current partner will testify! I have paid over the amount we agreed (which is actually over what the CSA would ask for, but not bothered), every month for 7 years, and it was taken into account as an outgoing when my IVA dividend was calculated in 2009. The CSA have enough to deal with chasing people who refuse to pay anything, so they are more than happy for people to make their own arrangements, so this may well be the best option if your ex is up to it.
