Hi all not been for a while happy new year,I have just posted this question on the experts page but like to hear other peoples views,
My dad died on monday,As you expect it was a terrible shock,However just beginning to come to terms with whats gone off my thoughts has turned to the funeral,he had a limited pension, not enought to pay for the funeral,Mysister and her husband are putting in a contribution plus with me his only son I feel should as well,I have a IVA with payplan paying in over £500 a month,If I asked the for a payment break
1/Would they allow it,I would payback at the end of the arrangement and 2/How would this effect my IVA.
Phil, I'm so sorry for your loss. I am sure that Payplan will allow a break for this. You could tag the payment to the end of your IVA or just pay a little bit back monthly. Speak to your IP and I really hope you get this sorted.
Phil - I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. I do know how you feel and it is a very difficult time for all of the family.
If I were your IP, I would definately authorise you a payment break, and most funeral companies will allow you a decent period of time to pay the bill. Any missed IVA payments would need to be made up either over the course of the IVA or at the end.
Hi Phil, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your father.
I am sure Payplan will be sympathetic to you and give you a payment break.

Thankyou all for your thoughts,It's comforting to know that people who are in a IVA you can chat to when situations like this arise,This website is a god send especially this forum.
Phil
My Father also passed away at the start of December and found myself in the same situation with funeral costs etc, I am with Payplan and they said that they can do either one of two things, I could miss a payment and increase my remaining monthly payments to cover the missed payment or add the missed payment onto the end of the term.
It was up to me what I wanted to do and Payplan did not insist on anything.
I found Payplan were very understanding and helpful and all I had to do was alter my standing order to reflect my choice.
I really do know how you are feeling but don't worry about Payplan, you will have no problems with them.
Hi Phil,..I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad,my thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time....I am sure Payplan will be sympathetic and give you the payment break...like Melanie says as well, most funeral companies will allow a decent enough time to pay, they did for us when my mum passed.....Endsmeet,sorry to hear of your loss too..xx
IVA accepted 13/11/2008..17 payments down,55 to go..
Hello Phil,
It is really a hard time for you and your family so please don't worry, Payplan will not add to it, they didn't require any receipts or stupid things like that.
Thank you Debtmountain for your kind thoughts and as you correctly said, the funeral companies do give you enough time to pay, the one that we used required a small deposit but gave us plenty of time to settle the remainder.
I am really sorry to hear about the loss of your dad Phil, and i hope that you manage to get everything sorted out regarding the payment break..sorry to hear about your dad also Endsmeet,my thoughts are with you both at this very difficult time.Take care.xx
