Thanks all, I'm feeling ok now, calmed down and even had a bit of a joke with my Dad. When hubby and I got back from park we shouted "DEBT COLLECTOR!" through the letter box![:0] He DID find it funny, honestly. My Dad knows everything, he's a star and I love him very much.[:I] X

Thanks Chardonnay, he was out for about half an hour, he told me he went to the riverfront for some fresh air. He's ok now. X

Hi Viki,
I'm so glad to hear that, he sounds like a real star. I love the way you have been able to laugh and make this into a lighter issue. Keep it up, you're an inspiration,
Hugs to you, hubby and your dad,
Chardonnay

Hey my little buddy!

Sorry you have had to go through this. hopefully it will all be over soon. I wonder whether companies are being more pro active due to the current climate or whether you were just unlucky - either way you have dealt with it really well.

Glad your dad seems ok.

Hi Hun, just returned from work to read your post. Why don't they pick on people who really don't give a damn about their debts. I hope you are over the shock Viki, you and Dad will be ok when all this is sorted, which I hope won't be too long now. Take care of yourselves, Kazzy x

Thanks Hun, we have all developed great coping skills.........I think! Don't know what I'd do without you guys to support me. You might be right about the creditors. X

Hi
Poor you
Debt collectors have no rights or power in terms of entry to your property. You can simply just refuse to talk to them and close the door.
Easier said than done I know !!

Thanks Andy. Can you just tell me what the difference between a debt collector and a baillif is? Is the baillif just sent when you owe council tax not loans and credit cards or will the next visit be a baillif. X

A bailiff is an officer of the Court and is employed to enforce legal actions involving the collection of monies - usually after a judgement debt, but also for the collection of Council tax and outstanding rent.

A debt collector is employed to collect monies and has no powers to enter premises or seize goods.

Hi Viki,[:)]

Just been reading this post, What a horrible experience for you, This is the thing that I dread the most, and it must have been so embarrasing for you with your neighbour outside at the time.[:I]

I live in a quiet cul de sac and all the Neighbours look out for one another which is nice but a couple of them are quite nosy and seem to know everyone's business. I would be so embarrased if someone came knocking on our door as I'm sure they would guess then that we are having problems.

Hope you're feeling ok now.

xx

So sorry Viki, how horrible for you. This was my biggest fear, especially with my neighbor, she could keep the olympic torch burning with that snout of hers, talk about wanting to know whats going on and if she doesnt, know she makes it up. Its just a scare thing, they want money, your goods are worth nothing to them, I hope you calmed down. Some people are so scared they part with cash at the door, they dont know they cant take anything, thats why they do it. Its a sad world when you owe money and living in fear is no piece of cake. Its tough in limbo land, right? Never mind, stay strong, stick to your guns and dont let them intimidate you.

Thinking of you and hoping for this nightmare to be over for you soon.

Extra special love
LILY
