I received a spam text from an unidentified source this afternoon. Basically said I could apply to have my debt written off. I'm not in the least tempted as happy in my current plan, just wondering if any of the professionals have heard of these. It is being promoted as a new government scheme. Thnx anyone x

There is no such thing as a Debt Settlement Order and it is not a government thing. You did right to ignore this text.

Another company out to make money from you.

Winter blues, I have no idea how they got your number unless they have just dialled at random.

Makes you wonder where they get your number from. Why not consider joining the TPS, I'm a member and if they text me I always persue the matter.

Best advice is to delete though x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I got a coldcall on my mobile yesterday, from some finance company. He had all the speil, told me he was authorised by the government to 'write off my debts and arrears'. As I was on my break, I humoured him for a bit, and told him quite truthfully that I had no arrears or debts, and to remove me from their records.

I must have put my mob number on something, as I'm getting mote and more contact like this.......

I rarely give out my mobile number and any sites that insist on a home phone number get 01000000000 and that is usually accepted. I bet he was gutted once you told him you had no debt!

My feeling is that they are not trawling actual numbers, but dialling at random ( as the old, outlawed, telesales companies used to do with landlines). In this day and age it's a fair bet for them that most calls that actually connect will have someone at the other end in some form of level of debt.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Hi Broke,

Could you email/text me or Graeme the number and we'll investigate who is responsible?
