It does help though keeping up a mobile contract, your bank account being in order and your mortgage/rent.

Just picked up on the "never say never" Jan!
I just meant I will not be spending like I used too! I will quite happily do what I can to restore our file after wards!
The way our car is going I might need some HP just to get a new one when this is all over! And I must not give up on the dream of owning our own home too x

Exactly! Do agree about the store cards though!

Never ever want a store card again!

I do feel sorry for the sales assistants having to "push" them on every sale.

My store cards were maintained well it was just the cc's! I will have one again but only to build my credit rating, I never want to be in this position again.

I could spend for England on a store card - more than a credit card!

Spot on Jan! I would have a huge pang to shop at every Next sale if I had a store card!

I only ever had an Argos card and paid that off 2 years before the IVA. Never really understood the attraction of them I prefer to look around for bargains than be stuck to one shop

Store cards like a argos card never really grabbed me back in my spending days. But give me a debenhams/next/adams sale & I would of been there like a shot!
I was so addicted to sales, & I did not spend hundreds at a time, but it all builds up as we all know.
I did clear my debenhams a few months prior to our IVA, but I'm sure I paid it off with cash from another credit card! Yes, that is right because they would not let me pay it with a credit card it had to be cash or debit card! But when your desperate you find a way round it.
It was the only debt I cleared with another form of debt, then cut up the card & canceled my account. It was the beginning of my learning curve lets say!

I think I am glad I missed that experience, I tended to pay off my Argos card most months , I think the most I ever had on it was about £200.

I had a BHS card and an Evans card, which could of course be spent elsewhere!

I'd think nothing of going out on a Saturday and spending £100 on the cards. Some of the stuff has since gone on Ebay with the tags still attached!

Be very glad that you did Pandy!
Most of our debt, 3/4 of it was spent with nothing to show for it. Barring in mind I would say 1/4 was needed & spent on food etc when things got bad.

Ooooo Im so glad to be out of all of that!

Must admit that most of ours was spent on things such as cars, holidays, furniture and clothes. I do at least have some fab memories if nothing else!

Only material thing we have left is a very rusty car! No holidays & most of the clothes have probably gone to the charity shop or ebay!

Sad really, but one day I will go on holiday & it will be paid for in cash!
