DEMSA is a trade body representing a number of debt managements co's, it stands for 'DEbt Management Standards Association.'

I think they have been around for a while, I don't know if it's any guarantee of good practice but they have a very comprehensive code of conduct on the website (which is very easy to find, just add .co.uk to the name)

The website also lists the members.

DEMSA is a small organisation made up of a few firms. The Debt Resolution Forum is a bigger body that is trying to improve standards and educate the profession. They were mentioned in a good article yesterday in the Daily Express written by Geoff Ho. Visit www.debtresolutionforum.org.uk where you will find about 60% of the industry in DMP and IVA's are members.

You will also see what their members subscribe to as Standards.
