Hi there

I wonder if anyone else in an IVA is feeling as depressed and scared as I am at the moment? The price of everything is soaring and just to really put a tin lid on it, today we are told that energy prices are set to soar by 70%. How the hell are those of us in IVAs supposed to cope with it all? I can just see our IVA failing in the not too distant future because we just won't be able to keep up with all these prices hikes.

Sorry, just feeling thoroughly miserable with it all at the moment!

Hi Liz

I too am scared about the future with the rising costs I just don't know some months how I manage to survive. I have just had a large car repair bill--need the car for work no car no work so I have no choice what would I do with out my mum bailing me out?
I am already on anti depressives and for been for the past 18 months.

I know the debts were my fault and need to paid back (which I am happy to do) but each month gets harder.

Again needed a moan after a bad week.

Jan
Nothing you can buy feels as good as not being in debt.

I too can see problems with iva's due to the rising costs and the lack of wage rises to cover. I shopped this am and everything is going up, things that were 99p are now 1.35p, our tilities are expensive as it is without any further rise. Terrible.

Its awful isn't it Jan? Last week we had to pay out (totally unbegrudgingly mind you, as we would not be without him) £230 for vet fees as our Staffie needed an operation. We will probably get about £75 back from the insurance for that by the time they taken off the excess! and next week I have to have a tooth removed which is going to cost another £80. We have been doing our weekly shop in Aldi but today we decided to try a farm shop we had heard about. The fruit and veg were very reasonably priced and they had lots of other bits and pieces in there at good prices too but my God, it was awful in there. It made Aldi look like Harrods. I know its only appearances and all that because the food is perfectly fine, but I just got to thinking today that I don't know how much longer I can go on with it all. How I would love, just once, to do my weekly shop in Tesco! Pathetic I know! So sorry for the whinge, but I think most people understand how we feel.

yes i have to agree with all comments made there isnt a day goes past that the iva isnt constantly on my mind i have been in one for 3 years some say it flies in to me it feels like hard labour for 20 years but you have to take it a day at a time but to finish one it must be the most remarkable feeling one can have i dream every day about it

as for the price rises if it gets too much to handle get in touch with your ip straight away they will need to lower payments at the end of the day failure benefits no one

Hi
Indebtforever is spot on.No one benefits from a failed IVA so your IP should fully support you.
For those with recent IVAs[Post Feb 08]your IP should have the authority to reduce your payments by upto 15% if needs be,otherwise push for a variation meeting.

Before panic sets in too much - remember that IPs and creditors alike are also experiencing these increases - so we are very aware that they are there and know that our clients and customers are not trying to pull the wool over our eyes. For any of my clients who are stuggling, I would urge you to call us and let us know what the difficulties are. For others, please do the same to your own IPs - we are here to help not put you through lives of purgatory.
