Hi
Have just viewed the DFD advert on tv,if you have debts over 15k and are struggling etc etc.No promise of writing off x%[good move] but no mention of equity release[not so good]
DFD seem to be the only company advertising for business both in the press and on the tv at the moment.
Regards
Andam Davies

Havent the broadcasting standard agency (i think that is who regulates tv adverts but forgive me if i am wrong) changed the regulation about IVA and debt solutions advertising, and stopped anyone saying they can write of x% ?

I dont belive any tv or press advert advertises the fact that you may be expected to release equity, maybe the BBA should enforce this aswell.

There is no problem with saying that you can write off a percentage of debt, so long as you qualify that with say industry averages. It is a well known fact that the average return in IVAs these days is between 30% and 40%, so there is no problem in quoting these percentages as industry norms, so long as you confirm that individual circumstances may differ.

I agree that there should be a health warning to say that your property may be affected.

I am not normally a fan of financial adverts - but I thought that the DFD "bird" advertisements on TV were very good. Amusing, clever, but with a serious and well-presented message.

Financial adverts - Raul the seal/dolphin drives me demented, as does that annoying Halifax advert on the beach/cruise ship. And MBNA's AND/OR advert - (covers mouth so can't scream!!!) Add to that HSBC's tropical jungle advert, and I run to make a coffee at that point.

Raul is definitely a dolphin!!!! Hes just been on Channel 5.

The only other one I quite liked was for Capital One - with strange creatures on springs that jumped up in the air - to illustrate rising interest rates.

On a light note, "Youtube" is a great source of old TV commercials if you have fond memories of them. There are some old "Pot Noodle" and "Tango" ads that still make me chuckle.
