There's quite a few posters with DFD. They're a big company and get their fair share of both good and bad reviews.

i was with DFD, some really good point....some not so good! The main issues i had was around the closures process and how long it took, however this was impacted by the VAT and PPI issues which were kind of uncharted territory to companies and customers alike.

Their customer service could be a lot better, such as answering the phone, better staff training and actually being allowed to speak with you IP (it seems I am not the only one told your not allowed to speak with them as they are too busy!!!)

But there ok! I would advise anyone to go to www.iva.com and look at the ratings list, like trip advisor but for IVA’S! see what others are saying about all companies, several come highly recommended on the forums!

Hi There,

dfd did a fantastic job for me, thety were really helpful, particularly around review time which is always a bit nervy. Occasionally geting in touch with them was a bit of a struggle but overall they were great. My closure took around 5 months from final payment to completion cert, but this was mainly due to on creditor making a horlicks of their claim.

Personally I would have no hesitation in recommending DFD.

You have 2 choices

Either go for a large company where you can be 1 of the crowd
or a smaller company for a more personal hands on approach
both have positive and negative aspects
The larger companies have more staff and more resources the smaller ones maybe get backed up with work

Its like buying a Ford or a Zonda

You should always check out several companies - www.iva.com is a good start.

DFD were our chosen provider and they worked their socks of for us without any problems. Always available on the phone, and always responded in writing to annual reviews. Never kept waiting for paperwork and the advice received was first class.

Hi bricky

Plus points of DFD are that the annual review turnaround is very quick, often a few days; also, when I suffered a huge drop in income unexpectedly and thoughtfully would fail my iva , they were superb and arranged a variation meeting that saw mY payments reduced massively to a figure my new salary could afford .

Negative points recently are that closures take for ever, however this is part due PPI & vat issues that should be a thing of the past when you would finish in 5 years. However , they in my opinion do not employ enough staff to effectively all with client enquiries in recent months.

If starting again i would definitely choose Melanie Giles who posts daily on the forum, for 2 reasons, namely 1) her clients all speak highly of her and she appears never to have unhappy clienyts sounding off on the forum ( unlike DFD ) and secondly, when Mel posts , often in the early hours , she offers common sense helpful advice and is never over critical, even when posters may have done something that is a no no whilst in an IVA

In summary, I had nothing but praise for DFD during my IVA and its oly been whilst waiting for my certificate that I've been unhappy, they are not a bad company, despite my grumblings
Last payment made April 2012
Certificate received 1st Nov 2012

We are with them and they are very fast and efficient from the 1st phone call to the creditors meeting was exactly 28 days and then it was sorted..I think they are just having problems with all this PPI stuff it will soon be over with ..We have had no problems we even had a pay rise a month after we joined the iva and they sorted it out within 2 weeks and didnt take it all..

From my observations on the forum over the last year, there has naturally been a lot of posts concerning delays in closure due to the VAT issue, as well as PPI which could also complicate individual cases.
In my opinion for a newcomer these two issues appear very stress inducing (as they are!), but in the longer term for someone starting the IVA journey they will be sorted and should not be given too much importance.
For example PayPlan recently wrote to me advising me of a variation to my arrangement to head off any problems with PPI down the line and I guess other companies are being similarly proactive.
