Hi, My IP arranged for me to pay a full and final settlement of £1500.00. I only had 6mths left to pay after a lengthy 6yr iva. I can no longer get access to the settlement sum as my mother has had a stroke. She was giving me the money to settle but I cant take the money off her now as she may need it to pay towards her ongoing care. I was told by debt free direct that my only option is bankrupcy which would mean I would lose my home along with my husband and 9yr old son. I am really scared and don't know why they cant settle with all the payments I have already made. My GP has had to put me on anti depressents as I am really struggling to get my head around all this mess. I was so close to being sorted. Gutted! Help!:(

Firstly sorry to hear of your circumstances. I really do not believe that DFD would go down the bankruptcy route this late on in your iVa.
I would email your IP and request a conversation with them direct or you could contact Judith Anderton from DFD who posts on this forum ...... I am sure there is a way out of this.

You must be worried sick. Don't be. Demand to speak to yr ip. If not a case worker. Firstly get passed the guys who answer the phone. Sometimes they think they are experts!
5 years done and dusted. Certificate received.

Sorry to hear of your circumstance and how can bankruptcy be the only option after paying for all those years. Hoping Judith can help with this. Why not try and email her direct, I believe her contact details are in the ask experts a question link and scroll down to find her.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
