Why don't you send them a cheque or do a direct transfer from your bank for the first payment, and then have the standing order set up from September onwards.

I am with DFD and have just had to pay today an additional payment via standing order to them for my bonus.

Just spoke to a really helpful lady called Terry in customer care.

I have internet banking and control my standing orders myself - every time I have a little extra to pay off, I amend the S/O by including a one off payment to them.

They are really good when it is your first one and they won't get annoyed with you - check on monday to see if it has gone and if not then arrange to pay it via your debit card if possible, or if not send a cheque - although difficult if you don't have an account without a cheque book!

You'll get it sorted and will smile in a few weeks time!!!!

12 down, 48 to go and I am smiling!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont know if it depends on your bank but if i set one up it shows within a few days, weather or not i have made a payment. With Standing orders the company you are paying dont request the payment from your bank like a direct debit. You have complete control of it, when its paid and how much.

can i just ask did you take DFDs details to set up a standing order yourself or did you fill in a information sheet and send it back to DFD with your bank details like i did and they set it up?
i was under the impression DFD took the cash straight from my bank?

thanks

I got the details from them and then set it up myself - I can pass you them there details if you want that I use, although I would check incase it is different for each case.

I set up mine and hubbies standing orders with our bank via internet banking.

They go out on the 1st of the month. I can check on the day they are due whether they have gone out or not.

Standing orders differ from DD's in as much as DD's are requested and the amount can be varied by the creditor. Standing Orders are for a set amount and are automatically paid out. You can vary the payments if you want to, creditors can't.
