This thread has been really interesting. We have 2 payments left to make one in the next few days and one next month. DFD have said that there are 2 outstanding creditors, Lloyds TSB a small overdraft under £100 and one Yorkshire Bank card. We have other debts with both companies and cannot understand why they have not made claims for these 2.

Thanks to Kazzy and Mattyboy, I will be on the phone to DFD tomorrow to see if I can get them to chase up the 2 outstanding claims.

My husband has a neurological condition which has left him with some cognitive problems. The IVA is playing on his mind at the moment, the more stressed he gets the more pain he is in and the less he is able to communicate. My husband is worried that when he loses his job and subsequently the house that goes with it, he will be unable to rent a house or move on without being able to provide the cert of completion. With sucidal thoughts already he doesn't need worries like this.

It seems very cruel to have to abide by the rules only to be told at the end it is going to take even longer to close.
It's been a long road getting from there to here but it's been worth it!

As soon as you have made that last payment then your money is yours. It's just the claims which take a time to sort out.

With your husbands problems I would press DFD to close this as soon as you last payment has gone out.

I hope Declan can pick up on this tomorrow.

Much as we'd like to sit back and relax don't think it's an option for me. Think I'll ring DFD and see if we can get them to chase the 2 o/s creditors up.

I think we all want closure as soon as possible after our last payment has gone out. I'll certainly be chasing mine up at the appropriate time!

Good luck to both of you, so close to completion. I hope your debt free futures are very rosy for you x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Just reading some of the other posts, I didn't realise that getting the certificate won't be the end. There's still the likely fight with the CRA's to get the data amended.

I don't think I have the energy!

At least your IVA will be completed - that's the most important thing. You can take your time and sort the CRA records out as the IVA will still be there for at least 12 months afterwards.

Once I have that certificate I'm going to book into a very expensive spa so I'm suitably refreshed and ready to take on the world. I've been promising myself this treat all year.

Not worried about CRA's, there will hopefully be time to clear up the file before the IVA drops off. I'm still worried about getting through to DFD - have been trying for 2 hours and keep getting disconnected. Must be busy - I've resorted to email!

Hope things get sorted out for you soon Mattyboy.

Try emailing Declan directly - his details are under the 'Ask a Question' section.

Finally got through to DFD, after a few days of trying. After 2 departments and a 35 minute call we have been advised that it is not possible under any circumstances to chase outstanding creditors before the final payments have been made. We have been told we can make the final 2 payments together and the file will then be passed over to the closures team after a month and then it will take on average 4 months to shut.

I have explained that we are trying to get this closed asap because of my husband's state of mind but that doesn't seem to matter. I will email Declan but I don't hold out much hope. Not looking forward to telling my husband the outcome of the call!

Grumple, please leave this with m and I will investigate on your behalf. I’m sure we can do something for you.

I’ve been snowed under recently but i will look into this as a priority.

Thanks
