We all feel a little left out here down south ... the guy on the local radio said he's going to go home this evening, lay a glass on its side and shake his hand whilst he takes a picture!

Questions:

Are earthquakes a new slant on the north/south divide?

Could it be anything to do with Northern Rock?

Could it be anything to do with the little green men that Melanie and Andrew saw on the way back from Manchester last night (see the thread on the Frugal Friends meeting)?

Debbie

Apparently some people in Oxfordshire where I am felt it, I must admit I didn't but I did fall asleep listening to Paul Mckenna and it was the best nights sleep I've had for ages!

I was in Harrogate in a hotel, away working, on the 7th floor[:0]

I hadn't been asleep long as I was tired as drive down from Newcastle to Harrogate was in 70mph gales - on the A1 with all them lorries[:0][:0] I spoke to my college as I was scared as lots of lorries blown over and he said drive slow and you will be safer as something about the wind getting under the car - I said I am going faster as I am scared and want to get to Harrogate ASAP!!!

When I was woke up moving around on a shaking bed I was terrified and thought it was the person next door jumping on the bed or something[;)] As soon as it was over though - back to sleep no probs x

Hope everyone is ok and no one has any damage to property[:)]
Be positive & look after yourself, there are more important things in life than debts....

Best Wishes

Nothing ever exciting happens in Wales. We did not feel a thing, and when I read Lily's post just before going to bed, I must admit I thought she had been at the gin bottle! (Sorry Lily)

Well at least Mr Torch will probably say the earth has at last moved for him!!!

Melanie you had the first one I ever felt, in wales 22 years ago did you miss that. I have to say that in Birmingham it was only a little shake of the bed. Last night was a little bit like the exorcist for a few seconds and the one 5 years ago in dudley which is much nearer was a bit scary the hose vibrated and buzzed a weird noise.

I don't think it affected us, but being a heavy sleeper I probably would have slept through it if I was right in the epicentre! I slept through the 1987 hurricane - I briefly woke up when a tree was uprooted in the back garden but as I didn't know what it was at the time I went straight back to sleep! I fell asleep standing up on a train once!

In our local news our area was measured at 10 seconds, though I didnt think it lasted that long. I could have done with a Gin though, you dont expect the whole bed to move without one do you??? I was so relieved when we turned on the news and found the cause. ~Then I couldnt sleep because I kept on giggling, it was just the sight of my son and my own reaction.

A girl over the road apparently woke up and started crying as it scared her, her mum spent an hour calming her down and telling her it was just dream and not to be so silly.
Mum had to eat her words in the morning.

Well ... after my whingeing yesterday that we down south were feeling somewhat left out I went into my kitchen last night and realised that Gosport had indeed been hit by the earthquake!! It was terrible pots and pans all out of the cupboards, food supplies all over the place ...

... or could it have been something to do with my daughter making a spaghetti bolognese last night?!
