could there be a possibilty of it being difficult to rent a property during the time of an IVA? If the is need of a guarantor is there any companies or charities that could help if you are unable to get a family or friend member to go guarantor for you?

Hi wks and welcome to the forum

You will struggle to find companies or charities who will guarantee your commitment under a property lease - the best bet is to find a private landlord who may not carry out formal credit checking.

Good morning,

If no landlord would consider anyone with a bad credit rating there would be a lot of homeless people around. On the other hand landlords need to protect themselves or they wouldn't be in business.

Being prepared to pay a large deposit and/ or rental up front will show a landlord good intent.

Because you will have adverse credit any prospective landlord who wishes to carry out a credit check on you may look negatively at this. However, this is usually over come by arranging the rental through a private landlord whilst being up front and honest about your financial situation.

Welcome to the forum wks!

I would advise that you look for properties with private landlords, which can be found in the paper etc. This way they are unlikely to do a credit check on you.

However I do feel it is important to be upfront and honest in regards to you debt situation.
