Me and my husband are entering a DMP with Andy Davie d we were wondering if anyone had any success stories with DMP's or any advice in general. We have changed bank accounts and set up new direct debits etc and are now just waiting in anticipation to see what the month brings.
You are in good hands with Andy. There are a lot of posters on here in DMP's who seem to be doing ok.
Me and hubby did a DMP for 18 months before getting an IVA, and it worked for us - only downside was the length of time to pay it off!
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I also am working towards a DMP with Andy.
One company said an IVA was the best solution, but Andy spoke to me (best part of an hour), evaluated all the ins/outs and the pros and cons. He put my mind at ease and was so professional too.
An IVA wouldnt have been in my best interest as I am sure to lose my nightshift premium (current climate). So for me a DMP is an easy way to wean myself into an IVA. I am nervous to say the least but know Andy and the posters on this site will provide me with the best advise and support.
I started a DMP last October, so far alls well 'ish , RBS/BARCLAYCARD/CITI, Have all stopped charging interest and phoning me and are all dealing ' with my IP [Louise at Vincent Bond] The Co-op bank are right b*****ds tho and i cant seem to make them understand, mind you they phoned me the other day and said i did'nt even live at my address because they sent 'agents' round , well their 'agents' were certainly not james bond as i'm still in my address [:D].............so all in all it's fairly good, and i've got a very small amount of money left in my bank at the end of every month [;)]
I wonder who's house they visited bitshort? Must have given them a bit of a shock![:0][:D]
Apart from the Co-op, I'm glad it's all working out ok for you.

I;ve just started doing my own DMP through the debt help charity website. Mean's I have to do it all myself, letters and dealing with the creditors etc, but I'm actually pretty good at admin, even though I'm rubbish at dealing with my own money lol. Good thing about using the website is though that it's all free.
Early days yet but things are starting to come together and hopefully will work out okay.
That site is quite useful, and does provide a lot of help for those who want to go it alone.
Glad things are all coming together now.

You are not out of the woods yet by any means, but you are heading in the right direction. Don't forget to call your case advisor at any time if you have any problems, however trivial they may seem. The main thing is that although DMP's don't give the same legal guarantees that IVA's do, if you stick at them and can get over the initial and inevitable bumps and hiccups along the way then generally they work perfectly well, as long as you stick to your half of the bargain, which I am sure you will.

There do tend to be bumps and hiccups, especially at the start of DMP's. This is often handled best by ensuring, as much as possible, that it's your representative that deals with any such events and keeps you informed of progress.
