I was advised my one of the more easy going banks who I just happend to open a account with a few months ago that they want to see a years clear payment history then they would look at a mortgage for us. I had a cal from the ICO yesterday and it looks like they are going to act on my behalf. Not sure how soon as I will have to wait for a letter from them. Very strange that today after months of not hearing a thing the mobile phone company responded to my email I sent them last week. They will have a look at the account and contact me.
IVA completed

Let us know how it turns out....I am intriqued and tired of seeing in a 'smoke fill' room.

I have a friend with no debt and a perfect CRF and has been offered 5.6% 5 yr fix from Barclays. He said it is the best deal that anyone can get with a 1k arrangement fee.He has a loan to value of 60%.

In reply to your earlier one NBNA (I've only just caught up with this again), It doesn't matter whether the mobile phone contract is the thin end of the wedge as you put it. It's classed as credit, and as long as you have a good payment history, then it has to go in your favour regardless of how small the debt is. The bank accounts are the same, if you can show you have run them properly, then 'every little helps'.

Some of us are quite happy to have these on our record, even if we've nothing else.

whichwaynow - I hope you manage to get things sorted in your favour.

Like Kallis I'm happy to have my mobile phone contract and bank accounts reporting to the CRAs to help me in the future.

Good luck Whichwaynow, I really hope it works out for you x

I have 5 basic bank account and one mobile and BT lines to exploit the idea that the banks report to the agencies to boost credit rating...but the caveat is with the history of big borrowing and payback obliterated......since my the IVA came in force - the combined effectiveness of all those tepid approach to rebuild credit would be academic.....I'll still need to borrow and buy to get more brownie credit points but not whilst in this petulance IVA

NBNA, why are you always so negative about everything on here? The majority of us are quite happy with our lot, and the way our IVA's are panning out and the way our credit will be rebuilt.

I'm glad you were able to get 5 basic bank accounts - some people can't even get one!

NBNA, you seem very bitter about your IVA and to be honest you don't give a very good impression of IVAs to new people reading the forum.

I'm not in an IVA as that route wasn't for me, but if I had been able to afford the repayments I would carried on with an IVA. An IVA is an excellent tool for people, especially where they have assets to protect, and for those who want to pay back as much as what they've borrowed as possible.
