Thanks Lily, tomorrow is THE day! I am going to try and stop the habit. I will have to find other stress relievers from that stressful job. And yes it's true what others have said here its smelly and stinks the house out. Also the money that could be saved would be an incentive (I am also underweight so spending more on eathing might be a good thing). Also someone mentioned Champix and succeeded, I might need that as will power alone may not be enough.

I found some comments on here interesting. I am now an ex smoker but would not condem anyone for smoking.

One of the posts, state that if you do smoke, you should give up and pay the debtors back as much as you can, the way i look at it is that if you smoke its part of your lifestyle. If it was that critical that people had to give up smoking to pay debtors back, then the following would have to follow suit -

Sell your house and move out of rented accomadtion and Live in a bed sit to pay minimum rent and give all money to crditors.

Like wise give up all cars and use public transport.

Very interesting debate, bit the line does have to be drawn some were.

You might find non smokers have sky tv, were as a smoker might not.

Its just like my brother in law does not smoke or drink, but buys a new 4 x 4 every couple of years, so you will always spend money on a "habit" you enjoy

That's a very good post James, and gives much food for thought. And you are absolutely correct in your thoughts - like you say there is a line to be drawn, but that will be in a different place in each individual set of circumstances.

I agree with you James. One thing has crossed my mind - if smokers have an allowance for cigarettes, maybe non smokers should be allowed something as well - not a lot, just something to make the 5 years easier. For example I don't smoke, but I like watching sport, so maybe instead of a smoking allowance I could have an allowance for Sky Sports rather than just the basic package?

Why not Skippy? We should be allowed to have some pleasures in life!

OK OK, you know me too well! How about a Sky Sports and chocolate allowance so I can sit and watch the footy while munching on the Green and Blacks?!?!

Isn't it funny how sometimes little things make you feel so good?

My mam went to a outlet shopping place through the week and bought me a 10 pack of Curly Wurlys.. I've still got 5 left and everytime I go in the fridge I take one and smile.. Am I sad, or just realising I should be grateful for what i've got.. Mmm Curly Wurlys[:D] Wonder if I could have a Curly Wurly allowance??

You can order a box of 48 for £20 for delivery on 6th October - if I had £20 I'd have put my order in!
