Hi john and welcome to the forum

No - the IVA does not stay with you for the rest of your life. It will be removed from the IVA register after the five year period, and from the credit scoring agency records after six yeare. I know it sounds a long time, but it will soon pass and you will be able to start again with a clear credit record.

Hi, does BR stay on your file forever? Or is it the same as an IVA - 6 years?

Both and IVA and Bankruptcy will stay on your credit file for a period of 6 years from its commencement. Once a certificate of completion has been issued then your details will come off the insolvency register.

An IVA will stay on your credit file for 6 years from the start of the IVA regardless of when you complete it.

Your details will remain on the Insolvency Register from the start of your IVA to the point where it is completed / satisfied.
