Hope he enjoys his chicken and rice. My last dog loved the chicken but couldn't cope with the rice - it always made her ill.

He just scoffed a chopped chicken breast(from the butcher so its a big one) poached with the rice, and half a cup of his dried food. Talk about impatient while it was cooling,I had to stand outside the kitchen door stirring it all in his bowl to cool it down. He is laid down at the back door now, much less sedated than last time.

Oh and another £636 bill after the almost £800 one. I reckon thats about 4 years worth of pet insurance premiums we have clawed back in 6 weeks!!!

For anyone in an IVA that has animals, please consider insurance!!!If your IP isnt an animal lover and wont allow it,eat beans on toast 2 nights a week to cover the insurance, its not worth being without.

All we have to pay is 2 lots of £105 excess's.

Vet check up in 3 days and then in 10 days. Updates to follow.

Glad he's ok Paul.

I agree about pet insurance - I pay a horrendous amount for Harry (well it seems like it to me!) but we'd go without before I cancelled it. Hopefully we never have to claim on it, but it's good to know it's there.

Know how you feel! When our dogs have had operations hubby has kept them downstairs and stayed down with them as we didn't want them jumping on and off the bed.

He would fairly crush me if he tried to get on the bed,the furthest he gets onto the bed is if I ignore him and pretend I am asleep when he knows I am not,at which point he rests his head at on the edge of the bed,if theres no response from me he then sits with 1 paw on the bed,the next stage is 2 paws on the bed(while he sits on the floor beside),the final stage is when he launches his top half into my face, licking away wildly!!!

We dont get to the final stage very often.

I put his food down this morning and he walked out the kitchen, boiled rice and poached chicken smelling house now!!!(plus a bit of his own food),which he totally wolfed down, another trip to the butcher for more chicken breasts may be needed later on!!!

Time for the application of eye drops, should be a nice wrestling match!!

Our three all sleep on (or in!) the bed. Thankfully it is a king size!

Glad he's doing ok Paul. Don't envy you with the eye drops though

The eye drops were a total breeze to put in,he quite happily let me use one hand to push his eyelid back and the other to drop the medicine in.

Maybe he is behaving because of the chicken and rice brekky!!!

That's good news. I think I'd struggle if I had to do that with any of mine.

No chicken and rice needed this morning, just a small slice of ham to wrap his painkiller up in,which he promptly dropped on the floor, ate the hame and left the tablet!!!

I had to toss some of his food at him to catch in the air and then threw the tablet,it was down before he realised it wasnt his food!!!

Nice gentle walk, and brekky no bother, eye drops eyes, only had to tell him off a few times for scratching his eye,we have one of those buster collars(lampshade things),but I wouldnt fancy wearing one so not keen on Taz having to!!

Wound on belly looks nice and clean too, vets check tomorrow.

We've never used those collars either.

We tried one on Suzie when she was neutered and she hated it so we took it off.
