The guidelines that we all use do not allow for as much as that but at the end of the day they are only guidelines and they can be exceeded as long as there is a legitimate and justifiable reason for doing so.

My insurance policy for my dog cost £8 per month, and also cover for everything and pay ongoing claims.

Is your dog already subject to an ongoing claim? If not, I would definitly shop round for a cheaper one, and there are loads out there.

Pets are very important for many different reasons, so if you have a dog that needs feeding then, as long as it doesn't exist on fillet steak and truffles, reasonable allowances can be made for that expenditure. Be aware that your creditors may query a £42 per month policy and may ask you to shop around for something a little cheaper but my view on this is that if you pay it then it should be allowed for within your expenditure, again within reason.

That's fair enough then. You could change companies, but of course the ongoing illness wouldn't be covered.

I am sure if you explain that to them you should be ok.

I am sure if you explain everything to them they will understand. £42 per month is a lot cheaper than having to fund it yourself!

All things considered, I personally wouldn't have a problem with putting the £42 down as an expenditure given the reasons you have said.
