Hope you're ok sonj, Andy says he's asked the office to check on your case as a colleague of his is dealing with your case. Hope it's resolved soon. Thinking of you x

I'm ok Lesley, I have had an email today telling me that the front page was an error and she has corrected it. Im ringing her tomorrow as I didn't get a minute to myself at work today and she had left for the day when I got to my mobile. She said I had misunderstand about the property so Im guessing that clause is contained within most IVAs as standard. I guess I just wish it was all dealt with, its taking so long. I thought I would at least have a date for the meeting by now. Thanks for thinking of me x

The equity release clause is standard in it's inclusion for homeowners, sometimes the detail varies. If the IP doesn't put it in the proposal I would bet a fair sum that the creditors insist it is added.

Seek reassurance now so that when you sign you fully understand the implications. Best to take an extra few days now and get it right than get it wrong and struggle from day one.

Be my guest...

I'm sure it won't be long before you're looking back at this awkward time, we do all have these moments honest. Now I'm outside of my IVA, I'm sat up at this time crunching figures on a spreadsheet as we're doing some DIY and not liking spending but I know it has to be done to enable me to sell the house!

Chin up and look forward not back, today is another day closer to your meeting date. x

Housework, erm .....!!! Today not good, I rang knightsbridge and lady Im dealing with had left for the day, again. No further forward. I was asked if I could perhaps sign the paperwork I have and then they will amend it, erm, no. Now they have said they will resend and then we can book the courier to collect. Admin need to make the corrections, then post it so probs might get it by Friday, then probs wont collect it til following week. Its just dragging on and on through no fault of mine and Im absolutely done in with it. I feel ill. I could scream and I wish I could go back in time and not bother. I know something had to give but at the min it doesn't feel like ive done the right thing

It is unfortunate that there have been problems but I am sure you doing the right thing. IVAs are a good thing and please do not let your experience with this firm put you off the ultimate goal of legal protection from creditors in an affordable sustainable agreement.

Thanks for your reply, I just need some calming down again! I was assured by VB that this firm were a good firm but things are taking an age. I just hope this isn't the start of my relationship with them and that things improve.

Sonj77, have you looked at the blogs? I think almost everyone felt like giving up during the set up. It really is a roller coaster of emotions. It needs to be done properly from the start. Five years is a long time to live with a mistake. I found great comfort from the blogs as we told nobody about the iva. Use the forum, even a social post if you just need to vent or rant about nothing! Keep going. X

can I ask please, at what point are you tied into a particular company? If I don't work with knightsbridge, will they pursue for fees?

It is usually once the IVA has been accepted. If it is refused they normally won't charge any fee.

If you simply change your mind at a late stage, once they have done a lot of work, they might charge, if your agreement with them allows this.
