HI,
DOOR STEP COLLECTIONS.
HI IVE PROVIDED MY IP WITH ALL THE SIGNED AND NECESSARY DOCS FOR IVA APPLICATION , HOWEVER MERCERS[A COLLECTOR FOR BARCLAYCARD] HAVE BEEN CALLING REQUESTING STALLING PAYMENTS, WHILE MY IVA GETS APPROVED , TO PREVENT DOOR STEP COLLECTORS, SOMETHING WHICH DOESNT BOTHER ME AT ALL AS I KNOW WHAT COMMENT THEY WILL RECEIVE BUT IT TERRIFIES MY WIFE AND I HAVE TO RESPECT THAT. DO I PAY THE STALLING PAYMENTS????

Whilst Mercers do sometimes send debt collectors round, it is very rare and the collectors are very polite and once you explain you are going for an IVA they will go away and leave you alone.

You do not have to answer the door to them, and you do not have to make a payment to them.

It is up to you whether you make a token payment to them, but if you do, then you should send one to the others as well so that you are not preferring one creditor over another.

Hi there - this is just Mercers using bully boy tactics. Just tell them you are proposing an IVA and no payments will be made until it is accepted.

As they well know if you make any payments to them, then you can be deemed as favouring one creditor over another.

Very rarely do they send anyone out, but if they do, politely tell the collector...on the doorstep....that you are proposing an IVA. I bet you'll find the doorstep collector if he/she turns up, is much nicer than the people on the end of the phone.

Try not to be intimidated.

The doorstep collectors know the difference between someone proposing an IVA as they cannot pay and someone who tells them they are proposing an IVA as they dont want to pay.

Dont pay them a bean.

No, it will make no difference at all to your proposal.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Sorry to hear you're having problems with Mercers. As the others have said they rarely send anyone round.

Good luck with your IVA proposal x

I used to get the same threats and they scared me. Nobody came to me bit I always gave them my IP's full details and I never paid a penny. Hope it's sorted for you very soon and hope the above reassures your wife.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
