It was only a matter of time before I had letters from these people (even if my IVA is now finished). Had letter from Dr Debt last week and from the IVA council today.
If you get one of these letter please follow these instructions. Take one letter then tear up/shred or if you can do it safely , burn it. Then carry on with life. Do not waste time on these people.

Was the letter from Dr Debt, or Debt Doctor?

How many trees have to be chopped down for all this junk mail that is sent? At least with email junk, it's more environmentally friendly. Suppose it's keeping Royal Mail alive and kicking!!!
It's nice to be back......

Would you mind sharing the content/intention of the Debt Doctor letter?

HI,
The content was very much like the IVA council. They were aware that I had entered a IVA and were advising me that it may have been miss sold. At a price they would investigate it. I have no longer got the letter so I am having to do this from memory I can not remember the sums involved. I hope this is helpful.

How on earth would a firm called Debt Doctor know that you have been mis-sold an IVA? Do these characters actually believe they can make money by circulating this junk mail? It is time that register was removed from the internet, and access limited to those on a need to know basis.

The concerning thing about the IVA council is that it states at the bottom of the letter to call their help line for the IVA to be looked at but for you NOT TO contact your IP until the assessment has been completed. They also say ignore any letters from similar companies.

And they promised me faithfully over a month ago, and are on public record as saying they were going to stop putting the "Don't contact your IP" on the bottom of their letters.

Shameful behaviour - but gullible people are obviously feeding them with money or else they would have folded by now.

Thank you whichwaynow.

Doesn't seem right to me and I hope the tools used to distribute these mailshots are removed soon.

Hi all . Well it was about time i got one and low and behold a letter from the iva council telling me that they have noticed a pattern of inconsistencies that may indicate we have been misold an iva. As whichway says told not to contact my company until after assessment. Ended with blah blah ivac officer making it sound as if it is someone official. It says about vulnerable people being misled their letter could do just that. Anyway emailed my company, who had already warned of them and she is going to inform her manager.
Little rant over I am annoyed they know nothing about me or what i was told.

Hi all,
Today I received a letter from the IVA Council stating I may have been mis sold my IVA (which I have been in for just over 6 months). At first very annoyed and concerned about it, but I thought I know I'll look at the forums on here to see if any one has experienced any such letters and now I feel much better as it's just another letter for my shredding pile!!!
I will be informing my supervisor as suggested by whichwaynow and hopefully that will get rid of any letters coming again.[:)]
Thanks to you all for your advice here.

My husband and have each received a letter from the IVA Council - When I receive a letter from ANY company and it has spelling mistakes in it I just know it is utter rubbish and therefore ignore whatever they have to say as a reputable company does not send out error ridden correspondence in the first place. The tag of not informing our IP is still on their letter in BIG BOLD LETTERS.

What worries me is that they seem to know so much about you.....
