I would like to share a personal experience with my closest friends and relatives about drinking and driving. As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from an occasional social session over the years.

A couple of nights ago, I was out for an evening with friends and had a couple of cocktails and some rather nice red wine. Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before, I took a cab home. Sure enough, I passed a police roadblock but, since it was a cab, they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise, as I have never driven a cab before and am not sure where I got it or what to do with it now that it's in my garage

I'm glad the police are on the prowl - if it stops one idiot drinking and driving then it's worth it!

I rarely drink so I usually end up driving as well Lesley!

Yeah -- I am Des all the time too -- I rarely drink as it doesn't go well with meds and if I do have a drink I operate a zero tolerance policy.

I agree. Lesley -- aprt from which, as I know little about today's drinks, I have no idea how strong any of them are, so not worth the risk. Losing my licence would be my own stupidity ... but never worth risking other people's lives.

When my son passed his driving test I told him that this house is nil tolerance and that if he has even one drink to ring and we will pick him up. At the age of 23 he never drinks if he is driving and infact will not have drunks in his car and has been known to make one of his mates get out and walk when he started to drink while he was getting a lift home.

Working for the ambulance service I get to see 1st hand the effects drink driving has and if you saw up close the inside of a car full of drunk teens that's just hit a tree you would never even dream of drinking and driving.

Take none for the road and use taxis.

You got me! I thought it was serious at first then nearly wet myself lol. [:D]

I do not drive myself but would not drink if I did as I used to work in insurance claims and was a fatality claim specialist so saw far too much death and destruction, especially where alcohol was concerned.
1st payment Oct 2008, last payment Dec 2013. Certificate received March 2015 due to PPI claim.
