Ha ha, love it. Ford told me today, our warranty isn't designed to cover this specific type of engine failure which was caused by the electronics. I asked what it was meant to cover, the line went silent.
I do hope I get a customer satisfaction survey although I guess with the scene I made in the dealer maybe not.

Not to have the worry is worth its weight in gold kazzafunk and thats exactly why we took out the lease. We had awful problems with hubbys car and leasing seemed the ideal solution for us. If only we had been told the facts we might have taken a different route.
We love the motability car as well - no worries with that one on repairs and our other car isn't used much so we don't spend too much on it.

I have just got a new car through a car leasing scheme with my employer (the NHS), it's worth enquiring if your employers run something similar, basically, I had a 10 yr old fiesta and to be honest, loved the car, I owned it completely, it was a good runner and didn't really feel it was necessary to get a new car but going into an IVA and having to do a 60 mile round trip to work meant I was seriously concerned if it would last the full 5 years without costly repairs which I couldn't envisage the generous £22 a month allowance covering (which in fact I have so far had to use for hubby's car which is only 5 years old!)
So, the NHS offer a car leasing scheme, it's a bit like the cycle to work scheme where you can lease a car for 3 years which is fully maintained, taxed and insured, all you have to do is put petrol in and they take the payments from your gross salary which reduces your income tax and NI payments so makes it cheaper than if you were to buy one conventionally (if that were possible in an IVA!), the gain for the NHS is it also reduced their NI payments to the treasury so it's a bit of a win win. Fortunately Melanie my IP fully supported this would be a good idea for me as it means I have a brand new car and no bills on it to pay at all apart from fuel and the payments were worked out so that I could still afford the IVA. The other plus side is that as the payments are taken from my monthly salary at source, there are no credit checks at all to worry about as there is no concern I could default on the payments!
I have just received the car this week and whilst it is lovely, I must admit I do feel very guilty and that it is very extravagant when those extra payments (£240 a month) could have gone into my IVA pot, but I have to balance that with the worry I would have had over keeping my old car maintained and on the road during the IVA
The police do a similar scheme as well, I've never looked into it though.
