Ages ago we received a bill from E-on with regards to our previous property. the bill was for £1000 and we received it a year after we'd moved out. I was shocked at getting this as we only lived in a one bedroom flat and we'd already paid over £1000 for the year we were there which i already thought was a lot. anyway my hubby argued with them over it and they agreed to half it, which i was still sure we didn't owe.
so we set up a payment plan and we paid it each month. in between our payment plan we kept getting letters from various different solictors trying to collect the money in full. eventually we finished paying (or so we thought).
i didn't include it in our IVA as i thought we had finished paying. last week we got a letter from a different solicitor again saying we owed £350 and they want it immediately. i'm sure E-On are just trying to rip us off. i don't think they know what there doing. so my hubby rang the solicitor and she said not to worry the account has been closed as there is no money outstanding. she said she'd send a letter confirming this but it didn't come. we've asked twice now for this.
then this week we got a letter from a different solicitor again (i can't keep up with them) saying we owe this money. now i am even more confused. every time we think we've finished paying they seem to come up with more bills saying we owe money. i'm so annoyed. we simply can't afford to pay anything else out. if that was the case and we still owed money we could have included it in our iva.
just when i think were getting sorted something else happens [V]

speak to your ip about this as it could be included into the iva even after your iva has started

Did you have a final reading done when you left your flat, and did you get a final bill from them at the time?

If so, and you have that bill, you can at least prove that anything after that wasn't yours.

Did anyone else move in afterwards? If so, I would point Eon and whichever solicitors in their direction.

dont try to pay any money off the debt if they still think you owe this money and keep chasing you for it give all the correspondance to your ip she will then add this debt to the iva i think £350 wont dilute the funds a great deal what other creditors are expecting to recieve[:)]i dont think she will need to contact them for this amount not sure of the percentage before a variation is needed

yeah we did have a final reading but can't remember what i done with it. i'll have to look through all my old stuff i have. someone did move in straight after us. we done a change of address with them as we still have E-on as our provider at the new house. its more annoying because i'm sure we paid to much in the first place. nevermind all this money on top. i'm sure we were powering the whole apartment block. even when i rang e-on the girl agreed that it was excessive considering it was a 1 bedroom and at that time i was only there on a night as most weekends i was travelling home to my parents and i was working during the day.

thanks for that i'll contact mels team then. i didn't know you could add something to an IVA once it had all gone through.

Would not surprise me if someone had connected there supply in to yours. It happened to a friend of mine, somehow next door had connected up to his and they got there electric for free whilst his bill went through the roof!!!!

well we had no access to the electric meter. it was inside the apartment block under the stairs and we lived round the back with our own front door so we didn't have a key to get into the main block. we had to ask someone to let us in when we were moving to get a final reading.
