I'm in the process of sending in my paperwork, after having deliberated long and hard as to what to do..
have £32,000 of unsecured debt with 9 seperate creditors.
My problems began as my income is variable - I got used to earning quite high amounts of commission, but my company has suddenly changed the structure leaving me unable to make anything but the minimum payments - my biggest fear might sound pretty pathetic but I am worried as to the interim period between application and the IVA hearing.I have every confidence in the company I've chosed, but it'd be great to hear how others have been affected?

Hi,

You will be hassled by creditors whilst waiting for your meeting, and the callers (from a call centre) will try to bully you into making a payment. They may even say that if you don't make a payment they won't agree to your IVA.

Ignore them - the call centres can't do anything to you.

Other than that, it is just a waiting game I'm afraid. Hopefully it won't be too long before you get a date.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Which company are you going with?

Hi - thanks for replying - have chosen Cleardebt, I read through as many reviews as I could find and they seemed to be really consistent

I have recently had my IVA approved through ClearDebt and can confirm you are in excellent hands. Good luck with your proposal.

that's good to hear, I'm just so looking forward to being able to wake up one morning without financial worries being the first thing I think about - I know an IVA is'nt a quick fix by any means, I find the most difficult thing is not being able to talk with friends and family so a forum like this will hopefully stop me from completely losing the plot - it's quite a surprise how cathartic putting your problems on paper is...just as well though as costly therapy is definately off the agenda!
Thanks for listening

Yes choosing cleardebt was a goog choice. I am with them and they were always really helpful when i needed to ask something. David Mond posts on here quite regular, although i have not seen any posts for him for a little while now. Yes this forum can be a source of inspiration as well. It often answered questions that i thought about, and i did not want to trouble Cleardebt with. However, if you have any questions then ask them here, or phone Cleardebt, they will always treat you with proffesionalism.

Im nervously waiting for a call having sent my paperwork through - I've been trawling through posts on the forum and am really quite worried with the comments about BARCLAYCARD and their reputation for constant , and somtimes aggressive phonecalls.
I am usually an extrememly confident person on the phone - it's a huge part of my job - but without wanting to sound self pitying at the moment (like so many of us) I have so much to try and deal with - huge stresses and pressure at work, family worries - my mother has recently been diagnosed with dementia - and of course financial matters and I really worry about trying to cope with unpleasant calls on top of everything else -

I have been considering changing my landline number as I have recently had several nuisance calls - I always know when my ex is back in the country - would this be seen to be deliberately avoiding contact from creditors?

Not at all - many people change their telephone numbers for many reasons. You should not at all feel guilty about doing so. When I hear some of the comments that are said to my clients by creditors and debt collection companies, I am suprised that more people do not do this.

Have just had the call that my IVA has been accepted - I really can't emphasise enough how professional Cleardebt have been - in situations like this it's hard not to resort to cliches but the relief in being able to actually look forward is like a huge weight being taken away -
Will post a full review as soon as I stop shaking, but to anyone reading this forum whose deliberating as to who to contact do please give Cleardebt a call - I wish I'd done it months ago!
I can also recommend using Clearcash as your new account - the help and response I had from them was excellent -

I have made your case workers aware of your kind comments, it is always nice to get a well deserved pat on the back.

Good luck on your journey and a little celebratory tipple may well be in order.
