Here we go again..... I wonder if Johnny Ball ever worked for an IVA company.

If this is not another case of 'think of a number' then there MUST be a reason for them charging 2.5 years worth of supervisors fees for sorting this out.

In my case it is me directly who is paying my IP's fees, and if you want to settle early it would appear that to reach the required p/£ you will have to stump up extra cash to cover IP fees as well.

Get your IP to justify exactly what his charges of 3K are for - if it is for legit reasons then you need to know what they are, and how much they are costing you.
If not then you will find (like me) that they can come up with all manner of enterprising methods of charging - IE spilt coffee, had to get a cloth (£9) wiped up spill (£9) rinsed out (£9) got new coffee (£9) oh and filed a letter (£2) - cost of filing therefore - £38 Legit Charge!

Write a stern letter and get them to justify EXACTLY what these costs cover.

Chris...

Chris

When the "manager" of the IVA company called me and I questioned her about the fees, I must admit I cracked up laughing at her!!! I even went to far as to tell her that I am in the wrong business. Just think - I could wipe coffee stains for 10 clients for 10 months and realise more money than the IVA is worth!!! £66,470!!!!!

Blimey - do this for 10 years - whoooooppppppppeeeeeeeeeee

RETIREMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What an idea that is

We could get together and launch a coffee spill wipe up service for the IVA industry at half the hourly rate of the £180/hr practitioner who does it at present AND save everyone money, AND buy a penthouse in Barbados etc etc.

What would we call it though?

I'm loving it!!!! Penthouse in Barbados!!!! Oh yes PLEASE!!!!

Let me know when you get there and I will visit - will have to find appropriate coffee spills though!!

I'm wondering ....................

What would happen if you offered to wipe your IP's coffee spills for £90/hr - would they end your IVA for you? Seems they have a lot of coffee spills there!!!!!!

If I asked them, they would probably think about it for 5 mins (thats £9) then 'phone a friend' (another £9), then set up a meeting (£9) have the meeting (£99) write a letter based on the meeting (£29) then of course a 'meeting review' would be needed (£49) then a letter because of the review (£9) .....No I don't think I'll ask them.......

Chris,

You missed the important part out....

The coffee spillage while the're doing all of it, so in the end they would owe you money

This thread has made me laugh, and brightend my day, thank you.

Good luck sue with your offer, I hope it works out for you and Chris, marching ever onwards. BTW there is someone on another forum who is making a TV docu about IVA's mainly they want people to come forward if they feel they have been mis-sold them and bad stuff like that really, unrealistic proposals etc. You would have to appear on camera though. Not too sure if a balanced view would be given but I think the point is a lot of people are being ripped off and the industry needs tightening.

The other forum is the debt questions forum. The thread was posted under introductions and under the iva section if I remember rightly.

I've looked at the post http://www.debtquestions.co.uk/debt_for ... hp?t=18123

What strikes me is why does he only want to hear from people who've had bad IVA experiences? What about the people to whom it has been a godsend?

Sensible, I really dont know why, I just noticed it on a link, I was thinking more of people like Chris, Scaredkez, Coco etc.

Whats has been a Godsend for some may have been a nightmare for others. Its a once in a life time thing and I suppose they just want to make sure that people know about the pitfalls. Imagine if scaredkez and co hadnt had the internet or found this site?

Melanie I am sorry I have been to a family function all afternoon. Here is the link for you to get in touch.
