can we apply for a iva if we are about to emigrate as we were planning on setting it up out there as we dont know when my hubby will be in work.

Is there an other way to solve our debt as we are worried about the exchange rate frome auz to uk if we were to try and settle it in other ways

Hi Dorothy

You can proposed an IVA so long as you have lived in the UK for the six months leading to your application.

It makes sense to wait until your husband is in work, to ensure that you are able to offer sensible repayments. However, it might be better to get th e groundwork going with an IP prior to your departure, as you could arrange to meet them face to face and hand over the important documents required. Probably much easier to do that from this hemisphere.
