You would pay affordable contributions for a five year period, and then release equity during the final year on the basis I am sure my colleague has already explained to you.

With regard to the 40p in the £ hurdle rates, I will discuss my strategy with regard to your case off line. Have you made it clear to Tina that you post on the forum with a forum name, so that I will be able to properly identify you from other clients we are dealing with.

Hi

Basically you pay what you can afford. What you yourself say you can afford is a decent amount. In year 5 consideration is given to a remortgage. If that's not feasible, or the amount you could raise is only small then the VA can be extended for an extra year instead.

I would echo Andy's comment - strange advice indeed from GT.
