Tried a few agents to value our property but it seems they are getting wise about giving out free valuations, unless I sign up with them to sell and really put the property on the market it's not free. Any advice

No idea I'm afraid. I had no problem just before Christmas. Perhaps it depends on the agents.

Some IP's will fund a valuation as an expense from the IVA pot -- after all the creditors want it, they should fund it.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Payplan send out a local estate agent to value the house at the start of the IVA and when you need to remortgage.

At least they did.........

I can only speak from my experience, but i just searched our local paper for an estate agent offering free valuations, there were quite a few.
I told them there was a vacancy at work in another area and was looking for a valuation to see if it was worth moving.
Had a visit within a few days, gave me a valuation there and then and backed it up in writing in the post.
I rang them 2 weeks later to say the job had fallen through.
A little white lie but nobody got hurt.

Well, if an ip can apply for a ppi refund we never asked for, we can make up a pretend job

I did the same with mine OT and had no problems with getting a free valuation and got it in writing.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago all the local agents wanted a contract signing before they would value my home. I contacted my IP who sorted out a valuation for me.

Seems to be a common problem at the moment, i did this a few months ago, the estate agent quoted me £100 for a written valuation but would be free for a verbal one! Fortunately for me there was a house 4 doors down which was the exact replica of mine up for sale, so i phoned DFD to explain that i was having problems with getting a written valuation because of the cost involved, i was then informed that this didn't matter now as they would look at online valuations ie Zooopla etc and if necessary do a valuation out of the IVA pot as mentioned by Foggy, however i was asked to send in any evidence of property values in my area which thankfully i was able to do and i also found a website that did an overview of what had and is happening to house values in my borough. It must have been sufficient as i was told no equity and to meet my agreed percentage i had to make a payment of 750 over two months and IVA then completed. Word of advice though, get your house details correct on Zoopla as they did overestimate my value by a good few thousand pounds until i put the actual details of my home in.
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.

Orchid - bit early to congratulate you in completing - but well done on this - hope you can complete the IVA now without any other issues.
