I hope no one works for Ethel Austin stores as just seen that they have gone bust....on the news

Bad news as they have 300 stores with over 3000 staff nationwide. I hope they can find a buyer..

Ethel Austin do have some good stuff at reasonable prices sometimes

I had never been into a store before but in my previous job I was in charge of the account and used to sell into the shops.

Went in to have a look around once and they did have bargins, they used to take end of line discontinued range lingerie from the company I used to work for and other suppliers.

3000 jobs is a lot to go so do hope they find a buyer x

It is awful and a lot of jobs. The recession kicking in maybe??
There'll be a lot of people worrying even more about the increase in cost of living.

Its all such doom and gloom in the papers and on the news today...[:(]

credit crunch, house prices, mortgages, food prices spiralling out of control[:(][:0][:(]

Sometimes its better not to turn on the telly or buy a paper...

We had a heating oil delivery today 1200 lites @ 50p a litre[:0][:0] The prices are going up all the time and we got a reduction this time as the whole village brought together to get a deal....

Its Emma. I dont watch the news sometimes as it is all depressing. I have shopped at E austin for the grandchildren and always get baby presents for girls expecting at work, their have some nice reasonably priced stuff. Good idea the whole village doing that.

That's one of the con's of living in the country. Everything is costing more. I though it was just me buying more rubbish until we went on the budget. Now I look at the cost and know it's just everything rocketing up.....

No gas Angela - we have a choice of bottled gas or heating oil and the price between the two is not a lot.
It should last a long time as the summer is comming, if and when!!

At least we got a better price with everyone clubbing together[:)]

i cant remember the last time that britain had a summer!

o yes i can vaguely, it was when i was a girl in short socks playing in the street with a skipping rope!

were summers really hot when we were small or is it just that our childhood memory makes us think that way?
