We recycle as much as we can, infact our main bin normally has 1 black bag of rubbish per fortnight, when the main rubbish wheelie bin is emptied. the council pick up the recycling weekly, that is Paper, cans, cardboard, food waste, batteries etc, next year they are starting to do a kerbside pick up of plastic as well, at the moment we have to take it to a recycling point which my grandson and I do when he visits and for being good and recycling he gets to go to the sweetshop with his pocket money on the way back.
We have an indoor worktop caddy for food waste plus amn outdoor one. We dont use the indoor one just have the outdoor one by the back door.
It is an advantage living in a house and not a flat although we only have the wheelie bin, food waste bin and the black bog for all other recycling although we do have to seperate everything in that into seperate plastic carrier bags. We use newspaper as well for the food waste not going to pay for the disposable bags, my one bug bear is that the council charge for garden rubbish You have to buy the bags for it at £1 each, or have a green wheelie bin which costs £50 per year for emptying.
If life is what you make it, I must have been in a strange mood when I made mine
