It's not an easy path but I'm so happy I did it, it's quite gratifying to live within a proper budget too!

I must admit, although i know it'll be tough to manage a budget after juggling cards etc, i am looking forward to bossing my husband around with regards to telling him not to spend anything without checking with me first !!

We bought a petty cash tin yesterday and a little note pad to make sure we keep track starting next month as this month has been a pain, and I kind of just can't wait !!

Starting an iva is exciting...it's a fresh start. BTW, managing a budget can be difficult but it's nowhere near as stressful as juggling cards! Your money will be your own to manage as you choose. I am not one of life's budgeters so I limp to the end of the month with a few pennies in my account but I am only accountable to myself and any overspending is put right with a few bowls of cornflakes for dinner! good luck with the budgeting - some posters on here are grand masters if you want any tips along the way xx

You bought a petty cash tin? We used an old bean can. Petty cash tins cost too much!

I have been trying to get the wife to check before she spends for 4 years now!

I wouldn't say it was exciting - more a feeling of relief!

We do manage to budget quite well thankfully. Don't have too much left over but as long as there is food in the house, fuel in the car and all the bills are paid then I'm happy.

Your blog is actually close to the top at the moment! The list is updated everytime you make a new entry.

I'm just relieved that we are so far in although things may change in the next few months.

Everyone on here is sooo lovely, and I am so glad again that I have found this forum.

Have spent today planning weekly meals etc and getting rough prices from Internet for dog/cat food as well, so hopefully if we plan to get our money spent wisely within a bit less of budget, then we'll know we are doing well!

I agree that as long as we have money for food and fuel after bills are paid, then we will be happy!!
