Hello All

Hoping i might be able to get some advice. I had F+F accepted and paid off in January and now awaiting full closure (expected to complete within a month or so).

The issues I have is that I have rented a car on the 31st Aug for my holiday and as i am the only qualified driver obviously i do not have a credit card. At the destination the rental companies say they 1) only accept cc and 2) the cc need to be in the driver’s name - frustrating.

So a way around it is for me to get my fiancée to get an additional card with my name on it - which i understand would actually have no credit links to be as the debt is in my fiancé’s name. I queried this with my IP last week and they seemed unsure and so they just suggested that i should not try this.
Wondered if any of the IP on the site would have some more clearer or concrete advice regarding getting an additional card in my name as I don’t want to be in breach of my agreement?

I have to act quick in time for a card to come so cannot wait for the completion to get my fiancée to request the additional card.

tks!!

Hi. Get yourself a pre-paid card which you can load up before hand. No credit involved, so will be OK with IP.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Have you thought about getting a Vanquis card, they accept people post IVA. Just be aware to pay off the balance each month.

If a credit card company will stand it, there is nothing to stop you being a named holder as the debt will be in your partners name and not yours.

Just be mindful that most hire companies allocate a set amount of money usually £100-£500 against your card so you can't spend this money. A pre paid card is excellent idea by foggy but note what I've said. I would email / speak to hire company find out how much they hold against you.
